As far as the product goes, this was an actual Culligan brand, just like the ad said, and this purchase was direct from Amazon. My prior filter purchase was from a reseller who said I’d get a Culligan, but what I got the previous time wasn’t.

I got the free shipping, and I guess you get what you pay for. It was free. There was no visible activity via online shipping tracking for a few days, then all of a sudden the package was in my hometown. It would at least make us think we’re happier if there was more feedback earlier, but hey, it was free, right?

The company charges more for these Culligan D-250A filters
but ships the cheeper non Culligan brand filters.
So u may as well just buy the cheeper non Culligan brand filter.
In fact after this experience I am not sure I would trust anything on Amazon again.
especially since both filters are listed by the same company on Amazon … so its a bait and switch.

Not Made In USA, August 13, 2010

I have used the D-250 filters for almost ten years and have been very satisified up until now. After starting to replace the filters I noticed that the end caps for the carbon filters were both detached. I looked at the old filter to see if the caps were loose and they were both fastened securely. The outside of the package stated “Made in USA”, but upon further investigation the filters were stamped “China” on the side of the filter. I examined the old filters and they were stamped USA. So apparently the Culligan filters are now being manufactured in China instead of the U.S. With all of the issues with heavy metals in children’s toy’s from China, I really don’t trust these filters. I think I would trust drinking my tap water more than trusting what the filters might add to my drinking water. I really don’t like the fact that the outside label of the Culligan filters state “Made in USA”, but then I find out they’re really made in CHina. If they hadn’t been broken, I probably wouldn’t have noticed. Caveat Emptor.
